Belgium’s semi-automatic pistol, the FN-FNP, is a polymer-framed pistol that is actually manufactured in the United States by FNH USA in Columbus, SC.  This manufacturer is a division of Belgium’s Fabrique Nationale de Herstal.  FNH USA claims this pistol is the only auto-loading pistol available with a polymer-frame.

The Firearms and Ordnance Gallery at the Armed Forces History Museum in Largo, FL has an extensive display of authentic weapons from around the world –  including a variety of pistols.  The oldest piece on display is a very rare bayonet from the Revolutionary War.

Basic Features

The pistol also features complete frame rail replacement, which adds to the extension of its service life since it can be rebuilt even after extensive firing.  Several variations of the FN FNP have been produced since its inception in 2006, but all feature an ambidextrous decocking lever as well as a reversible magazine release and an integrated tactical accessory rail.

The FN FNP is a hammer fired pistol that uses the Browning cam system – with an external extractor.  Large magwells allow easy reloads.  The design of this pistol makes it easy to assemble and disassemble.
